Two Entry-level Laborer Positions - April 11, 2025
Starting pay is $15.00 per hour. Hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Medical insurance, paid leave, and other benefits, as well as a work uniform, are provided after six months of continuous employment. The Stephen J. Hinkle District Work Center is located at 15600 Jupiter Farms Road, Jupiter, Florida 33478.
There is no minimum educational requirement. Applicants must have a valid State of Florida driver’s license. The District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and utilizes the E-Verify System, which confirms the eligibility of employees to work in the United States.
This is a physically demanding position requiring qualified applicants to be able to lift, carry, and stack 80-pound rip rap concrete bags and use hand tools to complete culvert installations. The positions will require the following:
- Applicants must have no physical limitations
- Possess the ability to progress into equipment operator roles
- Obtain within one year a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) paid for by the District.
Key Responsibilities of an Entry-Level Laborer:
- Physical Tasks: Lifting, carrying, and moving materials and equipment.
- Assisting skilled workers and heavy equipment operators: Helping team with their tasks, such as holding materials or preparing tools.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Keeping work areas clean and free of debris and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Following Instructions: Adhering to the directions of Supervisors and Team Leaders.
- Loading/Unloading: Loading and unloading materials and equipment from vehicles or storage areas and chaining down equipment on trailers.
- On-the-Job Training: Learning new skills and tasks as needed, often with the guidance of more experienced co-workers.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting, standing, and moving heavy objects.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic Communication Skills: Ability to understand and follow instructions and communicate effectively with Supervisors and co-workers.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and cooperate with other laborers, heavy equipment operators, and tradespeople.
- Safety Consciousness: Understanding and following safety regulations and procedures.
- Basic Hand Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with basic hand tools and equipment used in this industry.
